What are dentures? What are partial dentures?

Full dentures are made for people who no longer have any permanent teeth. Partial dentures are used when a person still has multiple natural teeth remaining. The partial denture will replace multiple missing teeth by using the existing teeth for anchorage with metal clasps. Implants can be incorporated with both full and partial dentures to provide increased retention, minimizing the movement of the prosthesis.

Will I receive my dentures the same day?

Dentures are customized for each person and multiple visits are necessary to ensure the best fit. The patient will provide their input in the selection of the tooth color as well as the shape of the teeth. A try-in will allow the patient to approve their new smile and any modifications that are necessary will be made by Dr. Kwon so that each smile is a reflection of each individual patient. In cases where the patient has multiple existing teeth that need to be extracted, immediate dentures are fabricated and placed on the same day the existing teeth are removed.

When will my dentures feel natural?

Each person is different and some adapt to their new prosthesis much sooner than others. Follow-up visits will be necessary in all cases even if the prosthesis feels comfortable in order to ensure long-term comfort and success.
