Full Mouth Implant Restorations

What is a full mouth reconstruction?

Any dental treatment that involves the restoration of all teeth in the mouth is commonly referred to as a full  mouth reconstruction or full mouth rehabilitation. Prosthodontists are the recognized experts in such treatments. The treatments can include crowns, bridges, implants, and dentures to restore esthetics and function.

What is a prosthodontist?

Prosthodontics is one of only nine recognized specialties of the American Dental Association (ADA). Prosthodontists specialize in the restoration of oral function with an emphasis on esthetic and reconstructive dentistry. After completing four years of dental school, prosthodontists receive an additional three years of specialized training in an ADA accredited graduate program.

What is a full mouth implant restoration?

Multiple treatment options are available utilizing dental implants for people that have no remaining teeth or those with non-restorable teeth. If adequate bone quantity exists, multiple implants can be placed to support crowns, bridges or even dentures. These prostheses are fixed, meaning they do not come out. This procedure requires meticulous diagnosis, treatment planning, and coordination prior to implant placement. This attention to detail will ensure that the appropriate number of dental implants can be placed in the correct location to allow Dr. Kwon to meet each patient’s expectations.

How many implants will be needed?

The number of implants necessary for full mouth implant supported restorations will vary depending on the person’s particular anatomy and the number of teeth the patient wants or needs to replace with the prosthesis. Whether you need to replace one tooth or a full mouth, Dr. Kwon will work with you through every step of the dental implant treatment, from the initial consultation through follow-up care.
